Ode to a dumpster

One great thing about living in an apartment complex- the free stuff that people leave by the dumpster! Check out my latest finds:
A kid bookcase- this was actually in bad shape, so I had to sand it down really well and then paint it white. Practically new bookcase for only $12 for paint! As you can tell, Ethan was really excited about it:-)
A grill in great condition- just needed a cleaning and propane refill for $13.
I just love getting free stuff...

Yoga

Three things I have learned from yoga:

1) It is very difficult for me to tune everything out
2) I am really good at ignoring my body, not listening to it
3) I am great at the balance poses- wouldn't have guessed that!

I can also put my hands flat on the floor now instead of just reaching my shins...I haven't done that since 5th grade:-) Thanks to my friend Karen for the free yoga classes!

Short Halloween

After my experience with Halloween this year, I think I understand Ethan a little bit more...we took him trick or treating for his first time. This is how it all panned out: I prepared Ethan for a few weeks. Every day I would look at his pumpkin and then he would say Halloween...trick or treat...doors...costume. I even heard him saying it in his crib before bedtime.

Then the big day arrives...he freaks out because I remind him that he is going to be a monkey (I really think he doesn't understand that he is dressing up). He screams as I put his costume on but settles down once he sees that he looks so cute in the mirror. Then we meet up with friends Halloween night. We go to the first door...Ethan just stares and doesn't say a thing. Then he becomes so distracted by all of the decorations that he quickly loses interest in the actual trick or treating. He doesn't ever have candy so he doesn't get excited about that, but we get to a house that gives out bouncy balls and he carries it around all night:-)

We get to this one house that is playing loud music and has colored lights and Ethan dances and doesn't want to leave. After 15 minutes of dancing, we head home. The whole experience took weeks of planning and was over in less than an hour. I guess that's how most holidays are...

So here's some pictures of the event. Ethan is a monkey so we revolved all of our costumes around that. Annalisa is a monkey too and then can you guess what me and Cory are? The sideburns and turtleneck are clues...
