Happy Birthday Ethan!

I really can't believe that two years ago I became a mom. It sure has flown by. Ethan has grown and changed so much. He had a great day yesterday. He got to play with balloons, his friends, and open presents from Grandma while she watched on Skype.

Now, I knew the cake situation needed to be different than last year...Ethan screamed and cried when he tried the cake. So this year, I wanted to rectify the situation. I thought to myself, what would make Ethan like cake? Answer? Any type of sports ball. Result? A basketball and baseball cake. Here is the finished product and a timeline of the cake eating:

Ethan smiling for the camera
Trying to blow out the candles
I guess it looked pretty realistic- he is trying to pick it up:-)
Feeding Cory
Feeding himself- one finger in frosting- that's as messy as it got

Ethan took some big bites- once we gave him a fork
Can you tell which ball he likes best?
Great friends that came over for partially eaten cake
So I guess I should know by now that my son is not the personality that will ever dive into a cake and get really messy. That really is just fine with me:-) Happy birthday my little buddy!!!

Help me out...

I've told you all before about how I am now making video reviews on Expo TV. Well, I am in this contest where the most viewed videos can win extra money. So, if you get a minute (literally), watch my short video review in its entirety and you could help me out big time. Oh, and I didn't know that this video was going to be the one entered, so it isn't my best work, but oh well:-)

Thanks!

"Cool" quote

I've been reading this book called Presidents and Prophets that talks about the interaction between the prophets of my church and all the U.S. presidents. I came across this really interesting quote by President Calvin "Cool"idge:-)

"We do not need more material development, we need more spiritual development. We do not need more intellectual power, we need more moral power. We do not need more knowledge, we need more character. We do not need more government, we need more culture. We do not need more law, we need more religion."

I couldn't agree more...

Free babysitting...well, sort of

So I have a newly found respect for parents that have more than one kid at a time. Last Friday night, Cory and I watched five toddler boys and two little girls. Now, why would we put ourselves through this insanity? We have a babysitting group consisting of five couples who take turns every other Friday watching everyone's kids so that the other couples can have some quality date time together. Great solution for saving money and putting in two hours of hard work for eight hours of babysitting in return. However, I did my best not to underestimate the craziness that would ensue. Luckily, no one got hurt and I think Cory wasn't scarred for life:-) I am just glad that I will not have five toddler boys at one time- that's five times the climbing, jumping, wrestling, hearing the word no, as well as the sharing issues.

Oh, and here's a picture of Cory relaxing with the kids- two is definitely manageable:-)
